PRESENTATION TO HORNBY HIGH SCHOOL
On 16th September 2026, a donation of $5,000.00 was presented to the Hornby High School by Grand Master, Sis. Sheryll Rodgers who was accompanied by I.P. Grand Master, Sis. Beverley Buist. The donation is to assist with the cost of uniforms for their Kapahaka Group, the cost of the piupiu (skirts) alone is approx $30,000.00. The school, staff, Kapahaka group and its leaders were thrilled with the donation.
The occasion was very special, we were welcomed by staff and enjoyed a performance by the group who were wearing their new tihate (T-shirts) during which the presentation was made. John Witana accepted the “cheque” on behalf of the group. After the presentation, we were given an explanation of the symbols on the tihate, the performance concluded with Auld Lang Syne in Maori – quite special.
Fellowship and kai followed with the students using the occasion to raise funds by providing food for sale.
Grand Master and IP Grand Master, were made most welcome and have been assured we will be invited to other occasions in the future, we have also been invited to attend the forthcoming senior prize-giving in November. We look forward to more happy times with Hornby High School in the future.
